Scoutbook Progress Tracking

How to track Rank and Merit Badge Progress in Scoutbook

1. Log into Scoutbook.com

NOTES:

  • Your username is NOT your email.

  • Occasionally Scoutbook will make you sign in twice.

  • If you have been logged in for some time and the system times-out, close the window you have been working in and open a fresh window before trying to log back in.

2. Click on “My Dashboard”

3. Click on “My Account”

NOTE: if you do not see “My Account” click on “Administration” to expand that section

4. This is your “home” page. It is broken into four main sections:

    1. Current Rank – visual check on progress

    2. Advancement – only completed rank & MB’s will show up

    3. Awards – optional activities & areas of focus

    4. Links

5. Links: spend some time clicking through and getting familiar with each area. Key Links are:

    1. Advancement – Rank and Merit Badges

    2. Awards – Firem’n Chit, National Outdoor Achievement, etc.

    3. Logs – service hours, camping nights & hiking miles

Example for entering completed work for Hiking MB

  1. Click on “Advancement”

  2. On the “Advancement” page, you will see two primary sections:

    1. Rank & Merit Badges

NOTE: If the Merit Badge does not currently show up on the list, Click on “Start Another Merit Badge” (see arrow)

3. Click on the Hiking Merit Badge

4. This is the page you will use to enter requirements completion dates and upload supporting documentation (e.g. pictures, maps, etc.)

NOTES:

  • You will need a Merit Badge Counselor for every MB. If one is not already assigned, contact your Scoutmaster or Advancement Chair for help identifying and assigning someone.

  • If you are entering completion dates for a MB that was started years ago, make sure you select the correct version of the requirements. If this is the case, please contact your Advancement Chair for help.

5. When you are ready to enter information, click on the box next to the specific requirement.

a. For this example, we’ll enter information for completing a 5-mile hike for the Hiking MB, requirement 4a.

NOTE: for requirements with multiple sub-parts (e.g. Hiking req 4), Scoutbook requires you to enter completion dates/info for the sub-parts individually.

6. Enter the information:

    1. Date – this is the date the activity/requirement was completed. In this case a 6.4mi hike at Herb Parsons was done on March 21 2020.

    2. Note – requirement 4 requires the Scout to prepare (for each hike) a written plan, map with routes, clothing/equipment list and items for a trail lunch. This information should be entered in here or if you are using a MB workbook, you can upload a picture of the completed section. If you are posting pictures of the work, please add a note here stating “See pictures for requirement documentation”.

Pictures – to upload pictures, click on the camera icon. You may upload as many pictures as needed/desired. Make sure to enter a short description of each picture of the system will not save your upload!
